Flash animation provides a diversity of dynamic graphical effects
for today's Web sites. Flash is used to create:
- animated buttons
- headers with movement
- splash page animations
- slide shows
- moving product illustrations
- system schematics with step-by-step animation
Flash was developed to produce stunning animation encapsulated in
tiny files. This is important for those with lower Internet access
speeds.
Today Flash readers are built into all popular Web browsers making
it a universal animation technique.
There are a variety of reactions to animation on a Web site. Some
site owners chose subtle effects-perhaps limited to navigation or
a few illustrations. Some sites use an animated graphic as the entrance
page to the site, designed to grab attention and set an overall image.
Flash can be used to create an entire Web page or an entire site rather
than using HTML code. However, Enfosys does NOT recommend the latter.
Search engines cannot index or recognize the text in a Flash Web site.
The site will have minimal if non-existent presence in the search
engines. Furthermore, updating the Flash pages will be more expensive
than its HTML equivalent.
Enfosys has produced numerous Flash animations. Here are examples:
Prairie
Dunes Golf Course (done for 2002 USWO Championship)
Plain Jans Service
(unusual artwork converted to flash)
Hashknife
Ranch Splash Page
This site: the header and left navigation bar are
subtle flash animations.
